`Potentially catastrophic flash flooding` forecast in New Orleans

The city of New Orleans woke up to extensive flooding Monday morning. Storms that developed overnight and into the early morning hours have dumped widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches of rain across the Gulf Coast.
